Facebook’s New Feature Is Spying On You, Turn It Off Now In This Way

Meta-owned Facebook has been in the headlines for tracking users’ data since its inception. The company has often been accused of destroying users’ privacy by using their data without their consent. Now, Facebook has introduced a feature in its mobile app that will openly track you all the time.

Now, Facebook will keep the data of which websites you visit and which links you click. Yes, the company has introduced a new “Link History” feature. However, this feature also allows you to opt out of sharing your browsing activity records with the company. Meta has announced this feature through a blog post.

Facebook Is Making Such A Claim!

On the other hand, Facebook claims it is a better tool to save your browsing activity in one place so that all your links are saved, and you never lose them. The company also says that if you leave link history on by default, Facebook can use your data to improve ads on its platforms.

Was This Feature Needed?

But now the question is, do you find this tool right? Do you want someone tracking you all the time? From a privacy point of view, we don’t think this feature was so necessary. Most of us start getting upset as soon as we see ads, and Facebook does not have any ad-free plan in India right now, but in a way, this feature can also help you because when there is no other option other than watching ads. So, at least you see such advertisements which are helpful for you.

Data Will Be Deleted In 90 Days!

Meanwhile, if you turn off the setting, Facebook promises to delete your link history within 90 days. It should be noted that this feature is not yet available everywhere and will be introduced on a global scale over time. Let us now know how you can turn off this feature.

How To Turn Off Link History Feature?

  1. First of all, open the Facebook mobile app.
  2. Click on the More option at the bottom right.
  3. Now, go to browser settings.
  4. After this, select the privacy option.
  5. Here, the link history feature will appear; click on it.
  6. After this, you can turn it off from here.
