BEML To Make Bullet Train: Public sector company BEML Limited will make India’s first indigenous bullet train in the country itself. BEML has a contract to make two high-speed train sets. Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory has given a tender to this government company to design, manufacture, and commission two bullet trains. BEML has provided this information in its regulatory filings.

In a regulatory filing filed with the stock exchanges, BEML Limited said it had received an order from Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, to manufacture two high-speed trainsets. One trainset will have 8 cars, and one will be manufactured for Rs 27.86 crore. That is, the total value of this contract given to BEML is Rs 866.87 crore, which includes design cost, one-time development cost, non-recurring charge, one-time cost in the item of jigs, fixtures, tooling and testing facility which will be used for all high-speed projects in India.

BEML said that this project is an important milestone in the direction of high-speed rail travel in India. This will be the first time when the first Indigenous bullet train running at 280 mph will be designed and manufactured in India. Both bullet trains will be manufactured at BEML’s Rail Coach Complex in Bengaluru, and the delivery deadline has been set for the end of 2026. Along with fully air-conditioned and chair-car configuration, this bullet train of BEML will have all the modern facilities for the passengers, including reclining and rotatable seats. Apart from infotainment systems in the bullet train, special provisions will be made for passengers who have difficulty walking a lot.

Despite this news, BEML stock closed with a slight decline. In Tuesday’s trading session, BEML’s share closed at Rs 3719.60, down 0.29 percent. However, BEML is a multi-bagger stock with a return of 145 percent in 2 years and 323 percent in 5 years.
